IMO PPR7 moves on Artic, black carbon and washwater

The IMO Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR 7) met February 17-21 and moved a range of environmental protections forward including draft MARPOL amendments prohibiting the use and carriage for use as fuel of heavy fuel oil by ships in Artic waters. The draft amendments will be submitted to the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC 76) with a view to approval and circular adoption at MEPC 77. Read more: Maritime Executive
