The recovery of the offshore market that began in Q4 2016 continues. Many  companies are starting to lock-in record low rates for both production and exploration drilling. The oil prices are expected to remain low. However there are a number of viable offshore projects today as a result of lower supply chain costs and revised development plans. 3D Laser Scanning and Engineering Services

Albion Marine Solutions provide 3D laser scanning,3D modelling, design and drafting services to maritime, offshore, construction and oil and gas industries. We specialize in 3D laser scanning for the maritime and industrial engineering and design applications. Every scan measures millions of discrete points and each point allocated its precise position in space. The three dimensional Point Cloud created that can be navigated, drafted, and modeled in popular CAD and other applications. The possibilities are endless from the Site Surveys, Damage Investigation to the Conversion Plans, Reverse Engineering, Conceptual Designs and Detailed Engineering.

 

 

3D Laser Scanning

Our team are factory trained and experienced professionals specializing in 3D Scanning. We utilize top of the line scanners with sub-millimeter accuracy. A number of 3D Scans are combined in a Point Cloud and represent the exact geometrical detail of the surrounding objects. From a Point Cloud the designers develop a model of the Machinery, Plant, Piping, Structure, Equipment for the Concept Design, Basic, Detailed and As-Built Engineering.
 

 

3D Modelling

Our designers use the latest 3D CAD Modelling software to prepare 3D Concept Models and Detailed Fabrication drawings for ship conversions, and plant upgrades including Custom Part and Assembly modelling, Prototype Design, Complex Construction Design, Structural Layouts, and Machinery.
 

 

Plot Plans

The laser scans of the plant, machinery, electrical cabling, piping systems and structure are extracted from the Point Cloud to create isometric drawings. Our designers use AutoCAD software to create these Plot Plan drawings.

Engineering Drafting

The 3D laser scan data is an irreplaceable tool in developing engineering design packages. Our designers combine the processed scan data, 3D models, existing arrangements, engineering design, and client requirements to create the required engineering deliverables: Conversion Specifications, Plans, and Detailed Fabrication drawings. The scan data can be imported directly into Revit, Autocad, 3DS, Civil3D, Navisworks, Archicad, Microstation, Rhino, Solidworks and more.

Damage Assessment and Survey

Our professional team is well prepared to plan, execute and support the retrofit of scrubbers, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems on clients’ vessels while managing the operational and technology risks, and sourcing the most cost-effective and reliable solutions from Capex and future Opex perspective. 

The marine air emission reduction legislations are fast changing.

On August 1st 2006 the Baltic Sea became the first fully implemented SECA.

On August 11th 2007 the North Sea and English Channel became the second SECA under European Commission Directive 2005/33.

On January 1st 2015 the SOx and related particulate matter emissions were further reduced in ECAs by reducing fuel Sulphur content to 0.10%. In January 2014 North American ECA was implemented . It regulates SOx, particulate matter and NOx.

Outside of ECAs, the global limit of sulfur in fuel was reduced to 3.50% at the beginning of 2012, and will be further reduced to 0.50% in 2020. This will significantly increase the Opex for most of ships.

Compliance with IMO air emission regulations is a major concern for Shipowners and has considerable operational and commercial impact. For the existing and new build fleets trading to SECA and North America ECA areas a retrofit of the exhaust gas scrubbers, SCR or EGR could be a viable and a cost effective option. 

Shipowners are required to prepare Implementation Plans and start transitioning to operation compliant fuel Sulphur Cap 2020. According to the IMO Regulations, 14.1.3 of MARPOL Annex VI stipulates that the sulphur content of any fuel oil used on board ships must not exceed 0.50% m/m from 1 January 2020, except for ships using ‘equivalent’ compliance mechanisms.
